The booklet "Preparing for University Calculus" is written by a group of mathematics instructors at Atlantic Canadian universities. It is intended to familiarize students entering university, or about to take a standard university calculus course for the first time, with the mathematical background that will be expected.

It consists of two sections: one is a "Frequently Asked Questions" list, and is available on the Web . The other contains over 150 questions, under 13 headings, of the sort often found on calculus placement tests. These cover topics such as arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, and word problems. In each section, a few are worked in detail, and answers to the rest are given at the end of the booklet.
