This year our department sent four students (two teams of two students) to 
the APICS 31st Annual Mathematics Competiton which was held in Fredricton, 
NB from Oct 12-14.  The competition is open to undergraduate students in the 
Atlantic provinces.  This year, nineteen teams from the region participated. 
The competiton takes students three hours to write;  the students are given 
eight challenging problems and they try to solve as many of these as they can 
in the time allotted.  One of our teams came in first place; Wei Dai (first
year), and Mark Richardson (third year).  Our other team, Matthew Alderson 
(fourth-year) and Tristan Smith (third-year) also did well.
