Dr. Mengjun Hu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computing Science at Saint Mary’s University. She holds a Ph.D. (2019) and an M.Sc. (2014) in Computer Science from the University of Regina, and a B.Eng. in Computer Science from Renmin University of China (2011).

Before joining Saint Mary’s University, Dr. Hu worked as a Lecturer (2019-2022) and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Data Science (2022-2023) at the University of Regina. She teaches a wide range of courses in programming, data mining, information retrieval, data science, and rough set theory, and mentors both undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Hu has published extensively in three-way decision theory, three-way data analytics, rough set theory, conflict analysis, and formal concept analysis in both journals and conferences. She is the principal investigator on projects funded by NSERC and co-investigator on collaborated projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Her current research focuses on explainable three-way data analytics, which aims at advancing the explainability in data collection and analysis using three-way decision theory.
