zyBook Online Textbook for CSCI 2355

This course(Internet Technologies and Web Programming) has an associated zyBook, which is a required online text available from learn.zybooks.com, and which you will use throughout the course for learning and practicing the topics we will cover. Among its features is the fact that it is very interactive and gives excellent immediate feedback as you are working through the exercises, and automatically records the points you accumulate by doing the assigned activities and labs.

   Be sure to sign up using your Saint Mary's University e-mail address which ends with smu.ca.

3. Subscribe

Cost and relevant dates:

• A subscription costs $87US.
• Students may begin subscribing on August 18, 2025.
• The cutoff date to subscribe is December 9, 2025.
• Subscriptions will last until January 7, 2026.

We will proceed through the zyBook in a (mostly) linear fashion, and there will be some material covered that is not in the zyBook. Also, there is more material in the zyBook than we will have time to cover, but you are encouraged make the most of your subscription time to look at any material that we omit along the way, or that we do not reach because we've run out of time.

Note that a significant portion of your grade for the course will be based on your completion of activities and labs from the zyBook.

If there are some parts of some of the sections that we decide along the way to omit as far as the formal part of the course is concerned, there will be notification to that effect when any such decisions are made, but you may still wish to work through those sections and you are encouraged to do so.
